Our Story

A love for Brazil

Mantira’s story is deeply rooted in both love and passion. In 1969, my English father met my Brazilian mother, and together they built a life that bridged two beautiful cultures. My father didn’t just fall in love with her; he also fell in love with Brazil. Growing up, we spent countless days in the small town of Monte Santo de Minas in Minas Gerais, where Brazil’s culture and warmth became a second home to me. In 1986, my dad’s passion for the country led him to purchase a coffee farm, Flor da Serra, nestled in the Mantiqueira Mountains—the inspiration behind the name Mantira.

Living over 6,000 kilometers away in the UK, it wasn’t feasible for my dad to manage the farm directly. Over the years, two incredible farmers have leased the land, pouring their expertise and dedication into growing and harvesting the coffee. Their hard work has maintained the quality and integrity of the farm, ensuring that every bean reflects the richness of the soil and the traditions of Minas Gerais.

Now, it’s my turn to continue this journey. Mantira is more than a brand—it’s a way to honor the land, the people, and the traditions that shaped my family’s story. By sharing this coffee, I hope to bring a taste of Minas Gerais to coffee lovers everywhere, creating a connection to a place that remains so close to my heart.
